Article Title: Development and Validation of Instrument for Assessing Practical Skills in Building Electronics Systems in Nigerian Technical Colleges
by Okwelle P. Chijioke and K. R. E. Okoye

Abstract:
An electronics systems skill assessment scale (ESSAS) aimed at improving the assessment of students' performance in construction of simple electronics systems was developed and validated in this study. The study answered one research question and tested two hypotheses. Electronics teachers from technical colleges in the South-South zone of Nigeria were the sample used for item validation of the ESSAS which was further tried out on students of technical colleges. Data collected were analyzed using statistical mean, Cronbach's Alpha, t-test and One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result of the study showed that 61 practical skills were found appropriate for the ESSAS. Also, the instrument was found to possess a high reliability of 0.87. It was therefore, recommended amongst others that electronics teachers in technical colleges and other similar institutions in Nigeria should be made to be aware and use the ESSAS for assessing students' performance in construction of simple electronics systems
